Coordinator's Message
The Positive Alternatives for Student Success (P.A.S.S.) Program was founded by Sandy McCoy in 1990 and the Positive Alternative Campus (P.A.C.) was established in 2006. In 2020, the campus was renamed the Sandy McCoy Positive Alternative Campus to honor our founder’s legacy. Throughout the decades, multiple alternative programs such as I.C.A.R.E., P.A.L.S., and P.A.C.E. have existed to meet the evolving needs of our students.
We are honored to provide educational opportunities so that students can become productive citizens in Kingman and around the world! As teachers, nurses, business owners, secretaries, as well as servicemen in the Army, Air Force, Navy, and Marines, our students make us incredibly proud to have played a part in their success.
Currently, our digital and distance instructional model features personalized mentoring with weekly Google Meet conferences, weekly academic planning and progress reports, individual tutoring, whole class instructional support, and encouragement in the area of social and emotional learning. Because our students are engaged in an environment that nurtures their academic and personal growth, their likelihood of success as a young adult is greatly increased. Our programs assist with the educational needs of our students who are teen parents, self-supporting, working full time, caregiving, have medical conditions, and/or lack course credits. It is our privilege to assist our students in reaching their potential and graduating with their classmates.
In closing, the Sandy McCoy Positive Alternative Campus provides a positive learning environment using alternative methods on a campus that is inclusive. We welcome you and we look forward to celebrating your successful journey. Register and become a Phoenix! You, too, can rise above any challenge!
