Our mission is to retain students in school despite their adult responsibilities or other lifestyle factors that prevent regular attendance and to encourage academic progress through self-paced study, mastery learning, and one-on-one instruction.
The Positive Alternatives for Student Success (P.A.S.S.) Program was founded by Sandy McCoy in 1991 and the Positive Alternative Campus (P.A.C.) was established in 2006. In 2020, the campus was renamed The Sandy McCoy Positive Alternative Campus (S.M.P.A.C.) to honor our founder’s legacy. Throughout the decades, multiple alternative programs such as I.C.A.R.E., P.A.L.S., and P.A.C.E. have existed to meet the evolving needs of our students. Currently, the campus is home to KUSD’s Online Learning Academy High School which consists of two educational pathways to graduation: PASS and KOLA.
